For almost 18 years, I called Phil my neighbor, as we grew up on the same street and played many games of kickball and flashlight tag together. Now, after a few short years, I have had the opportunity to photograph he and his own family for the third time. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to work with clients on multiple occasions, and the Chambers family is no exception. Between Phil's clone Ryder and Kali's enviable locks of hair, it was a fun and easy session. Cooler temperatures had started to set in, but I loved the moodiness of the clouds over the hills of the Battlefield and the bright pockets of light hitting their gorgeous faces!
Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Carroll
I am so very excited to finally be able to share these images with you! Now, normally when I say a similar phrase on my other wedding posts, it's because it has taken me time to finally cull and edit through a wedding day. This wedding is quite a bit different. You see, for the past month, I have kept these images to myself in an effort to keep Josh and Kristie's secret.
On October 6, Josh and Kristie tied the knot on their 8th anniversary in downtown Fredericksburg. Surrounded by just their parents, siblings, and their son Noah, they said I do. They not only kept the guest list small and intimate, but didn't share their plan or news with any of their friends, and even family! It was amazing to be part of their special day and be one of the very few who knew what was happening.
Our bride chose downtown Fredericksburg for her love of the architecture and history of the area, something she studied during her time at the local university, Mary Washington. The bride and groom and stayed at the beautiful Caroline House Bed and Breakfast, where they got ready together before their ceremony. What did I love most about this wedding? There was no chapel of guests waiting. No big timeline to adhere to in order to deliver my couple to their reception on time. The mood was so relaxed and there was so much love in the air.

Kristie's sister in law doubled as a guest and make-up artist. |
During the ceremony, a local restaurant, Cafe New Orleans, not only brought out water to our small group, but champagne as well! They brought it out and left it on the stairs, and didn't even wait for a thank you. Such a wonderful gesture! |

Becca and Rob - Leesburg Virginia Wedding Photographer
Becca and Rob's vineyard wedding was one for the books, let me tell you! Leesburg is one of my absolute favorite destinations in Northern Virginia. It's full of farms and vineyards and the Stone Tower Winery was the host to Becca and Rob's big day. Our featured couple this afternoon met at a winery through the groom's sister, and became engaged at a winery this past December. There clearly wasn't any other choice of venue for their day!
Becca and Rob were married in front of a little over 100 guests with the rolling hills of Leesburg serving as their backdrop. The venue allowed everyone to spread out, from dancing, dinner to outdoor games and lounging as the sun set over the hills.
I don't think I've ever enjoyed working with other vendors as much as I did this wedding. Everyone was so wonderful to work with, and it was clear Becca and Rob went the extra mile to make sure they handpicked only the best for their special day. I am so grateful to have been a part of it!

The Bonesteel Family - Northern Virginia Photographer
I'm sure that most of the visitors to my website are local to the DC area, but in the event that you're not, let me tell you that there is one word to describe the summer in Northern Virginia... HOT. HUMID would also work. Basically just think of any and all negative adjectives towards being hot and sticky and that's what you'll find if you visit us in June - September.

Imagine my surprise and how flattered I was when the Bonesteel family got in touch with me about doing a mini-session a few weeks ago with their now one year old little guy, Logan. You might remember his newborn photos that featured another family member, one that happens to walk on all fours. One of my favorites to date!
Clients often ask if a mini-session leaves enough time for small children and families to capture great photos, and let me tell you even in a regular session thirty minutes may be all I get out of little ones. We were able to get so many beautiful and fun images of Logan in his element in such a short amount of time! Here are some of my favorites from this amazing family of three:

This coming December, little Leila will turn two! That will make it two years since I was able to share in the amazing experience of her birth with her parents. I have loved getting watch Mom and Dad go from holding that tiny baby in the delivery room to running after Leila on the beach. Mom Liese was eager to shoot on the beach in the summer months and once again Leesylvania State Park was the perfect backdrop for our evening session. Sitting on the Potomac River, it's just minutes from both of our homes. Can you believe this is in our backyard? With the unseasonably cool weather we have had in the DC area for the month of August, it was a gorgeous night and here are just some of my favorites from their equally gorgeous session!
